    Posting Title: Applications Business Analysis

    Position Summary:

    Our Applications Business Analyst role will be responsible for building relationships across the user community to ensure Alkali applications are leveraged to deliver successful business operations. You will evaluate, plan, prioritize, assign, and direct computer applications program design, development and implementation, as well as daily support delivered through a third-party support team. The Applications Business Analyst will be responsible for supporting our SAP system and working with third parties for additional application support. Your customer base is diverse, in that one day you might be working with Corporate on the document repository system, and the next working with the operations function on the plant control system interface.


    We’re looking for a seasoned Analyst who has both hands-on and project management experience in SAP. You will be responsible for partnering with our customers to gather business requirements and translate them into technical requirements across both SAP and non-SAP application solutions. In this role, you will assist with implementation and providing ongoing project, business process improvement and system support to local business partners and be responsible for various applications and SAP modules as well as integration with SAP in various areas such as Supply Chain, Quality, EHS, and Business Intelligence.


    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for assigned application deployments and their completion of all deliverables within the following areas: requirements definition, prioritization, business process and system design, testing (System &UAT), training, deployment & change management, knowledge transfer.
    • Ensure all assigned work adheres to corporate IT standards and methodologies. Provide ongoing support and maintenance of applications using external AMS support.
    • Conduct meetings with business and functional partners to determine new requirements based on business priorities, changes in legislation and system needs.
    • Provide technical assistance in the evaluation & development of bid specifications for new applications, and annual budgeting for applications.
    • Provide business partners and local Information Technology management with regular project performance status, variances to plan, and identification of corrective actions.
    • Oversee assigned application project implementations within defined constraints (time, budget, resources and scope), using best practice PM tools and techniques.
    • Participate in evaluating and implementation of SAP and non-SAP applications covering all business application needs.
    • Provide guidance and support to other team members and internal business partners around areas of SAP expertise.
    • Responsible for IT SOX compliance and Segregation of Duties within applicable systems.
    • Manage contractors, when needed.
    • Assist and train users on new applications.
    • Create documentation (around processes, support steps and training.)
    • Establish IT service level agreements with business end users and monitor IT system performance to assure service level are being met.
    • Other duties as assigned



    Required Skills and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year college or university is required, Computer Science, Business, or Engineering majors preferred
    • 5 years of relevant business and technology experience
    • 5+ years of IT Project Management experience and/or 3+ years with SAP responsibilities
    • Experience working with outsourced support relationships
    • SAP & Application experience including SAP (IM, WM, Purchasing, PPPI, PM), MS Project
    • Hands-on configuration knowledge of any one or more of the following SAP modules IM, PPPI, Purchasing, PM, WM, QM
    • Business process analysis, design and improvement
    • Proficient written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain technical information clearly to business stakeholders
    • Typical travel is approximately 25%, but may increase to 50% from time to time due to business needs
    • Analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to present solutions/alternatives and influence the outcome of decisions
    • Strong Change Management Skills

    Preferred Skills and Experience:

    • Formal Project Management courses and Certification
    • Experience with other applications like Oracle EBS, MES, S&OP, Business Intelligence, Supply Chain systems, SharePoint, etc. would be a plus
    • SDLC (System Development Lifecycle) experience
    • Design, Development, Testing, Deployment, Support
    • Chemical and/or Mining Industry experience
