    Position Summary:

    This is not just a job, it is a “boots on the ground” opportunity to make an impact on the safety and operations of the largest trona mine in the world. The person for this position is someone who loves a challenge, enjoys providing important information to new and existing employees, and finding new and better ways to improve processes. This person is always seeking new opportunities for training employees in production, operations, safety, maintenance and equipment.     Primary Responsibilities:

    • Support the established culture of “safety first”
    • Design/develop or select training tools such as handbooks, demonstration models, PowerPoint visual aids, on-line tutorials and any researched materials relevant to the training subjects
    • Identify, develop & write updated policies & procedures
    • Communicate with supervisors and managers to determine training needs
    • Create new and interesting training materials in PowerPoint and/or other training sources
    • Train all employees on new & updated policies & procedures
    • Train all employees on MSHA requirements
    • Maintain training records to meet MSHA requirements
    • Maintain Equipment Isolation Procedure database
    • Assess safety risks and implement training plan to eliminate
    • Provide leadership/team building training and exercises
    • Compile annual training plan based on best practices for all training needs
    • Conduct initial orientation of new employees to the mine
    • Other duties as assigned




    Required Skills and Experience:

    • High School diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) with 5 years of underground mining experience
    • 2 years of experience as a leader in all mine training at an underground facility (safety, maintenance, production, equipment)
    • 3 years of Mine Rescue experience AND
    • 3 years of Mine Rescue training experience (MSHA Certified)
    • Experience in all facets of mine operations training: production, safety, maintenance (mechanical, and electrical), belts and conveyors
    • Experience creating and developing new training materials in PowerPoint or other training sources
    • Wyoming mine foreman papers, or the ability to obtain within 1 year
    • Intermediate MS Office skills, specifically in Word and PowerPoint
    • Some on call weekend duty is required 

    Preferred Skills and Experience

    • 10 years of underground mining experience strongly preferred
    • 5 years of Mine Rescue experience
    • 5 years of Mine Rescue training experience (MSHA Certified)
    • MSHA underground electrical card
    • EMT certification
    • Redcross CPR, AED, and First Aid certification
