    Position Summary: The Site Human Resources Manager provides leadership and functional HR support to a multi-site manufacturing operation with approximately 950 employees in Green River, WY. This position will plan, manage, and deliver people services including retention, onboarding, employee relations, labor relations, compliance, training, time & attendance, etc. in support of business objectives. They will serve as a consultant to management on HR related issues, act as an employee champion and change agent. Assess and anticipates HR-related needs. Communicates needs proactively with Corporate HR and business management to seek out and develop integrated solutions to maximize individual and organizational performance.

     

    The ideal candidate will have a graduate degree and multi-site HR experience. They will have an excellent understanding of Human Resource laws and best practices.  They will have experience with developing and executing strategies around both Employee and Labor relations.  They will serve as a coach and confidant to their direct reports, superiors, and peers.

     

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Green River Human Resources team
    • Execution of Alkali corporate Talent Management
    • Business partnerships
    • Leading site Organizational Development
    • Employee Relations and Engagement

    • Labor Relations
    • Safety
    • Support ISO 9000 efforts
    • Approve and administer the site HR budget
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable national, state, and local laws
    • Other duties as assigned

    Key Activities

    • Strategic Direction/Business Partnering
      • Partner with the VP Manufacturing and Leadership Team to develop HR strategy for the site
      • Act as coach and confidant for VP Manufacturing
      • Participate as a key member of the Green River Management Team
      • Provide coaching and leadership in driving change
      • Provide leadership, oversight, and direction to the site HR team to meet strategic goals
      • Align HR practices to strategic business initiatives
      • Keep current on the goals, capabilities, development priorities and needs of the business
      • Identify and establish relationships with key clients and stakeholders including site, Alkali Corporate, and Genesis Energy stakeholders
      • Execute talent management, acquisition, and development processes in alignment with Alkali Corporate
    • Employee Relations
      • Coach managers to improve performance by using effective coaching techniques
      • Provide guidance and support in administering human resources policies and procedures to ensure that employees receive fair and reasonable treatment to establish an engaged work environment
      • Develop bench strength and succession plans at the site
      • Facilitate the merit and bonus plan for the site, in partnership with the VP Manufacturing and Alkali Director of Compensation and Benefits
      • Provide leadership and oversight for the Medcor Clinic to ensure employees are receiving the best care possible and all compliance requirements are enforced
    • Labor Relations
      • Develop the long term labor relations strategy for the Green River site
      • Provide labor relations leadership to ensure there is a strong, collaborative relationship with management and union leadership - balanced with the insight to know where to draw the line
      • Lead contract negotiations including contingency planning
      • Ensure consistent and timely grievance management
      • Partner with site leadership to ensure programs are in place for development of line organization
      • Ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws, Labor Agreement, corporate requirements and policies
      • Develop the strategy for all arbitrations and coordinate with outside Counsel
    • Safety & Compliance
      • Set the tone in the organization in influencing and continuing best-in-class safety behaviors
      • Partner with the Safety Manager to provide coaching and suggestions to ensure employee engagement in safety initiatives
      • Champion and enforce policies and procedures around Government and Corporate compliance activities

     

     

    Qualifications

    Required Skills and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year college or university is required. MS or MBA with an HR focus is preferred
    • Minimum of seven (7) years of Human Resources experience
    • Minimum of three (3) years experience managing a team of HR professionals
    • Demonstrated Human Resources experience in a manufacturing setting
    • Strong coaching skills and leadership presence
    • Must have experience with Labor relations
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills
    • Intermediate MS Office skills

    Preferred Skills and Experience:

    • Law degree (JD)
    • HR Certification such as SHRM-SCP or SPHR
    • Have served as a chief negotiator and chief spokesperson for negotiating a labor agreement
    • Demonstrated cultural change agent
